TECHNICAL TRAINING #2: Oil Analysis Program Overview
Darren German, Hydraulics Business Unit Service Manager, Bosch Rexroth Canada.
A successful oil analysis program is more than purchasing a sample bottle, filling it with oil and sending it to a laboratory for analysis. Yet, thousands of companies waste dollars annually by doing this. Considering the cost versus benefit, oil analysis is one of the best ROI predictive maintenance practices available when executed in an accurate, timely and consistent manner. This session will provide suggestions for ensuring the maximum value of an oil analysis program for companies that are considering the start an oil analysis program or currently have a program in place. Topics discussed will include:
• The goals and benefits to oil sampling;
• Considerations prior to starting an oil analysis program;
• Case study: oil sample versus oil change;
• Basic knowledge requirements for successful programs (sample location, obtaining an accurate fluid sample, the basics of interpreting sample reports, corrective action suggestions);
• Promoting the value of an oil analysis program;
• The use of technology in oil analysis; and
• Useful oil sampling tips in less than five minutes.
Darren is the Service Manager for the Hydraulic Business Unit of Welland, ON-based Bosch Rexroth Canada. Darren has 15 years of hydraulic service experience specializing in hydraulic system PdM, PM program optimization, trouble shooting and technical assistance. He's also a former MainTrain conference content chairperson.

Learn about the latest innovations in ultrasonic testing and tools. It’s all about improving equipment uptime, maximizing asset management performance and reducing costs. In this session of Airborne/ Structure Borne Ultrasound, we will discuss:
- What the technology is and what is does
- Applications: Where it is used
- How Ultrasound can save energy and money, starting with the "Low Hanging Fruit"
- Case Studies: Documented energy and cost savings
- How to see an ROI in 1 Day!!!
Sean has been involved with ultrasound technology since 2005. He has lectured about the technology throughout Canada and has been instrumental in the program implementation of ultrasound for multiple companies. As a Certified Level I Ultrasound Inspector, he travels extensively supporting the implementation and ongoing ultrasound programs for UE Systems operations in Canada.

BREAK (Networking/exhibitor visiting)
3:00-4:30 p.m.
TECHNICAL TRAINING #4: Machinery Installation and Performance
John Lambert, Benchmark Maintenance Services.
The machinery installation process is a critical process for all maintenance departments. If it's not then it should be, even if you contract out the work you should have the knowledge in house that the machine has been installed to a correct specification or tolerance. Unfortunately this is not always done and the result is that the machine fails prematurely.
This session will provide information on:
How to save money by doing the job right. (Case study: Reducing Your Carbon Footprint.)
How technology has changed the way in which to do it right. (Case study: Base measurement)
How do we really know that we have done it right? (A review of a simple installation pointing out the common mistakes)
6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
